Frequently asked questions

Is my audio uploaded?
No. Files are decoded, edited and encoded again in your browser, and the result is handed straight back to you. Transcription runs a speech model on your own device: it is downloaded once, the first time you use it, and your recording never leaves the page.
Which formats can I open and save?
MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC and OGG open on most pages, and the sound track of an MP4 or MOV video can be taken out as MP3 or WAV. Most editing pages save as MP3, M4A or WAV; each page lists exactly what it reads and writes.
How large a file can I use?
The format converters and the editors that are used on whole songs and long recordings, such as trimming, speed and noise reduction, take files up to 150 MB on the free plan; a few others, such as fading and vocal removal, take 20 MB. The free plan allows 5 runs a day; Pro removes these limits.
Is there a watermark or a sign-up?
Neither. Nothing is added to the sound, and there is no account to make for the free plan.
