How it works
- Drop the song. An MP3, M4A or WAV works, and so does a video, whose sound is used.
- Choose iPhone or Android, and how long the ringtone should be. An iPhone accepts up to 40 seconds.
- Leave the part on The loudest part to get the chorus, or choose From a time I choose and type where to start, such as 1:05.
- Press Make ringtone and download it. Then add it to your phone as described below.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I put the ringtone on my iPhone?
- With a computer: connect the iPhone, open it in Finder (Mac) or the Apple Devices app or iTunes (Windows), and drag the .m4r file onto it; it appears in Settings › Sounds & Haptics › Ringtone. Without a computer: save the file to the Files app, open it in GarageBand, and use Share › Ringtone. GarageBand can also use the MP3 version.
- And on Android?
- Choose Android (MP3), download the file, and move it to the Ringtones folder of the phone, or open Settings › Sound › Phone ringtone and pick it from the file list. The exact menu names vary by maker.
- How is the chorus found?
- The page looks for the loudest stretch of the chosen length. In most pop songs that is the chorus. If it picks the wrong part, choose From a time I choose and type the time you want.
- Why 40 seconds at most?
- An iPhone refuses a ringtone longer than 40 seconds, and a text or alert tone is best kept under 30. Android has no fixed limit, but a ringtone rarely plays longer than 30 seconds before the call is answered or goes to voicemail.
- Is the song uploaded?
- No. It is cut, faded and encoded in your browser.
