This tool runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you can even turn off your internet connection before you start.

How it works

  1. Drop .jpg or .jpeg files onto the box, or choose them from your device.
  2. No settings are required. PNG is lossless, so the decoded pixels are stored exactly as they are.
  3. Press Convert to PNG. The conversion runs in a Web Worker in your browser.
  4. Download the PNG files separately or as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Why would I convert JPG to PNG?
Some tools only accept PNG: app icon generators, certain print-on-demand services, game engines and design templates. PNG is also the right format before repeated editing, because each JPG save adds a little more compression damage while PNG never does.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Decoding and encoding happen on your device inside the browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and the tool works offline.
Does converting to PNG improve the quality?
No. PNG faithfully preserves the pixels as they are in the JPG, including any existing compression artefacts. It stops further loss; it cannot undo previous loss.
Can I make the background transparent?
Not with this tool. JPG has no transparency, and the PNG will be fully opaque. You would need an editor to remove the background after converting.
Why is the PNG bigger than the JPG?
PNG is a lossless format and photos do not compress well losslessly. A 2 MB JPG commonly becomes a 10-15 MB PNG. This is normal.
What are the free limits?
The free plan allows 3 files per run, 20 MB per file and 10 runs per day. Pro removes these limits.
