Soundboard
Press a button, play a sound — for quizzes, streams, class and parties.
Keys 1–9 and 0 play the first ten sounds; Esc stops everything.
Every sound is generated in your browser — free to use, no royalties, nothing downloaded.
Nothing leaves your device
This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type, play or record here stays on your device: nothing is uploaded or saved on a server.
Example
Example: running a pub quiz night from a laptop with the Quiz set and keys 1 to 0
A quizmaster plugs a laptop into the bar’s speakers for a Thursday trivia night. With Sounds for set to Quiz, 14 buttons appear; the first ten play from the number keys, so the hands stay on the keyboard between questions.
- Press any button once before the first round: browsers keep sound off until the page has been touched.
- Drum roll, Applause and Countdown stop if pressed again while they play; Clock ticking and Heartbeat run until pressed again. Correct, Wrong and the rest simply play again.
- Esc or Stop all silences everything at once — handy when a team protests an answer.
| Key | Sound | When |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Correct | a right answer |
| 2 | Wrong | a wrong answer |
| 3 | Buzzer | a team buzzes in (a second long) |
| 4 | Drum roll | before the scores (2.6 s rising, then a cymbal) |
| 5 | Applause | the winning team |
| 6 | Fanfare | the start of a round |
| 7 | Ta-da! | the picture round answers |
| 8 | Sad trombone | the last-place team |
| 9 | Countdown | three beeps a second apart, then a long higher one |
| 0 | Clock ticking | thinking time, until pressed again |
Gong, Coin, Level up and Heartbeat have no key: press their buttons. Every sound is made by the browser as you press, with no recordings, so the evening can be streamed or recorded too.
How it works
- Pick a set — quiz, party, classroom or funny — or keep them all.
- Press a button, or the number key shown on it; the loops (ticking clock, heartbeat, crickets, siren) play until you press them again.
- Set the volume and press Esc or Stop all to silence everything at once.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I use these sounds in my stream or video?
- Yes. Every sound is synthesized by your browser as you press the button — there are no recordings, so there is no copyright to clear.
- Can I download the sounds?
- Not as files: they are made live on the page. To keep one, record it with the voice recorder or your streaming software while it plays.
- How do I use it for a quiz?
- Choose the quiz set: Correct and Wrong for answers, Buzzer to buzz in, Drum roll before a result, Countdown and Clock ticking for the time. Number keys make it quick.
- Why is there no sound?
- Browsers hold back sound until you touch the page — press any button or Tap to turn on sound. On a phone, check the silent switch.
- Which keys play which sound?
- Keys 1 to 9 and 0 play the first ten buttons of the set shown. In the Quiz set: 1 Correct, 2 Wrong, 3 Buzzer, 4 Drum roll, 5 Applause, 6 Fanfare, 7 Ta-da!, 8 Sad trombone, 9 Countdown, 0 Clock ticking. Choose another set and the keys follow its buttons.
- What happens if I press a sound twice?
- The loops (Clock ticking, Heartbeat, Crickets, Siren) and the long ones (Drum roll, Applause, Countdown) stop. A short one plays again over itself, up to three at once. The volume you set is remembered on this device.
- Is anything sent anywhere?
- No. The sounds are made in your browser.
