Nothing leaves your device

This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type, play or record here stays on your device: nothing is uploaded or saved on a server.

How it works

  1. Press Play (or the space bar) and set a low volume.
  2. Let it cover the sounds around you while you sleep or study.
  3. Use the sleep timer to fade it out and stop it when you choose.

Frequently asked questions

What is pink noise?
Random noise with equal energy in every octave — its power falls by 3 dB per octave. It sounds softer and fuller than white noise, close to rain or wind in trees, and is also used to test loudspeakers.
Pink or brown noise for sleep?
Pink noise sounds like rain; brown noise is deeper, like a distant waterfall. Some small studies found pink noise may deepen sleep, but the evidence is thin. Choose whichever you find most restful.
Does it keep playing with the screen off?
On most phones and computers, yes: the sound keeps going in the background and the lock screen shows play and pause. Some phones pause web audio after a long time locked; plug the phone in and leave the page open for a full night.
Is it safe for a baby?
Keep it quiet and away from the cot: paediatric advice is to stay below about 50 dB (a quiet conversation) at the baby’s ear, with the speaker at least 2 metres away, and to use the sleep timer rather than playing all night.
Does it use data or record anything?
No. The noise is made in your browser as it plays — no audio file is downloaded and nothing is recorded.
