Frequently asked questions
- Will it look worse?
- It has fewer pixels, so on a big screen yes. Watched at the size it now is, a 720p copy of a 1080p video is hard to tell apart — which is why it is the usual compromise.
- Can I make it bigger instead?
- No, and nothing else honestly can either: the detail is not in the file. Upscaling invents pixels, and for video that mostly means a softer picture.
- Does the sound change?
- It is re-encoded with the picture. You can drop it entirely if you only need the video.
- Is my video uploaded?
- No — it is decoded and re-encoded by your own browser, which is also why a long video takes a while.
