This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you can even turn off your internet connection before you start.

How it works

  1. Add one or more .json files — an array of objects, an object of arrays, or JSON Lines.
  2. Choose whether nested objects become dotted columns such as address.city or stay as JSON text.
  3. Press Convert and download the .xlsx; each list in an object becomes its own sheet.

Frequently asked questions

How is JSON turned into rows and columns?
Each object in an array becomes a row, and every key that appears becomes a column, in the order first seen. An object whose values are lists gives one sheet per list; a list of lists is written as it is.
Are numbers and leading zeros kept?
Numbers become numbers and true/false become TRUE/FALSE, while strings stay text exactly as written — “00123” keeps its zeros and “=1+1” is not run as a formula. Very long numbers (over 15 digits) are kept as text so no digit is lost.
What if my JSON is invalid?
You get the line and column of the problem and the character found there. Comments, single quotes and trailing commas are not JSON and are reported.
Is there a size limit?
Excel’s own: 1,048,576 rows, 16,384 columns and 32,767 characters per cell; anything beyond is cut, with a note.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The workbook is built in your browser.
