How it works

- Leave the volume on Automatic, or choose how much louder it should be.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the video re-encoded?
- Only its sound. The picture is copied frame for frame, so it keeps its full quality and the job takes little more than the time to read the file. The sound is made louder through a limiter, so the peaks do not crackle, and saved again as AAC.
- Which videos work?
- MP4, M4V and MOV whose picture is H.264 or HEVC (H.265), which is what phones, cameras and screen recorders produce. Encoding the sound needs Chrome, Edge or Safari 16.4 or newer.
- The voices are still hard to hear. What else can I do?
- If the problem is background noise rather than volume, run the video through Remove background noise from video first; making it louder raises the noise too.
- Is the video uploaded, and what are the free limits?
- Nothing is uploaded. The free plan allows 3 videos of up to 150 MB per run and 10 runs a day. Pro removes these limits.
